The Roman Catholic Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston, located in West Virginia seeks a highly motivated and responsible individual to assume a leadership role in the financial management of the Diocese as its Chief Finance Officer. This individual is appointed by the Diocesan Bishop and is the principal advisor to the Bishop in matters of finance in cooperation with the Diocesan Finance Council.
The Chief Finance Officer will administer the overall accounting process, implement financial procedures to improve and maintain the financial health of the Diocese, and provide leadership in financial decision making that affects the Diocese. This person will also serve as a resource to parishes, schools, and institutions within the diocese in financial matters while evaluating and ensuring compliance with Federal and State regulations and advancing sound policies and practices regarding fiscal management. This person should have experience in the areas of risk management, employee benefits, and legal negotiations and settlements.

The selected person will be a practicing Catholic who adheres to the teachings and traditions of the church. This individual must have CPA Certification. The individual in addition will have a Masters of Business (MBA) or Doctor of Jurisprudence. This individual will have a minimum of eight (8) years of supervisory experience and be able to demonstrate a successful progression in a leadership position. The Diocese prefers a person who is familiar with the religious not-for-profit area in accounting and finance and have a general knowledge of Canon Law related to temporal goods.
