Stone Ridge is seeking a Full-time Upper School English Teacher to begin on August 17, 2020.
Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart, a member of the international Network of Sacred Heart Schools, is a Catholic, independent college preparatory school for girls, Grades 1-12, with a co-educational Early Childhood Program, Pre-Kindergarten, and Kindergarten in Bethesda, Maryland. The Upper School Full-time English Teacher is responsible for teaching Upper School English in alignment with the Goals and Criteria of Sacred Heart Education. Working closely with colleagues in the English Department and throughout the Upper School s/he creates and updates plans for content, quality, and continuity of curriculum. S/he actively collaborates with Learning Strategists, Educational Technologists, and the counseling staff to develop strategies to support all students. S/he attends all faculty and employee meetings, fulfills other faculty duties, and maintains good communication with families about student progress through regular progress reports and responses to parents’ inquiries.

Requirements and Qualifications
The ideal candidate is a committed anti-racist educator with experience teaching English in independent, public, charter, and/or Catholic schools and possesses a Bachelor’s degree in the subject area.
S/he has a track record of successful teaching, a capacity for working with a range of learning abilities, and experience integrating appropriate educational technologies into her/his teaching.
S/he is familiar with current emphases on writing instruction, research, and the workshop model.
S/he /he is familiar with Understanding by Design as the School’s chosen pedagogical approach to teaching and learning.
S/he demonstrates a desire to innovate, collaborate, strong writing and communication skills, a capacity for organization and follow-through, creativity, and flexibility.
Compensation includes salary commensurate with experience.
