Pinecrest Academy is seeking a highly qualified, enthusiastic, motivated individual to teach beginning band, middle school concert band, and assist with symphonic band and Wind Symphony. The Lower & Middle School Band Teacher will be a Christian who will inspire students to learn the knowledge, skills and subject matter of instrumental music, contributing to their formation as Christians, consistent with the teachings of the Catholic Church and Pinecrest Academy’s vision and mission statements. The Lower & Middle School Band Teacher reports to the Director of Bands.
Models virtuous behavior in accord with the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church.
Teaches instrumental music, and general music courses as required to build a premier independent school performing arts program in the region.
Prepares appropriate weekly lesson plans including instructional objectives, planned activities, spiritual integration, assessments and resources, incorporating classroom technology to enhance instruction.
Promotes the Performing Arts program for the purpose of forming students holistically in the Catholic faith, improving the quality of student performance outcomes, and encouraging maximizing their God-given talent.
Plans, prepares, and delivers lesson plans and instructional materials in a manner that facilitates active learning.
Effectively utilizes basic elements of foundational music instruction including but not limited to presentation of content, questioning techniques, responding to learner input, and arrangement of learning activities.
Demonstrates spiritual maturity, academic ability, and personal leadership qualities to inspire student learning, including the understanding of the knowledge and characteristics of the age group taught.
Effectively manage classroom and discipline procedures to provide a formative and positive Christ-centered classroom environment conducive to learning.
Models effective teacher/parent partnership through timely communication with parents in support of student learning (e.g. posting of assignments, grades, conferencing).
Actively participates in extracurricular activities in support of school initiatives.
Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective formative environment for students and work environment for peers.

The Lower & Middle School Band Teacher should meet the following qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from an accredited college or university with an emphasis in the area of instrumental music.
Professional License/specialized training: State certification or certification eligible (GA) preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 3 years experience as a band director preferably in an independent school
Practicing and informed Catholic in communion with the Holy Roman Catholic Church who knows and follows the precepts of the Church.
Evidence of a mature Catholic faith and lifestyle.
Adapting to changing work priorities.
Supporting student participation in local, regional, and national honor groups and competitions,
Organizing and communicating information for effective execution of the program.
Knowledge of principles, practices and procedures related to building successful performing arts programs.
Must be able to adapt to frequent interruptions; meet deadlines and schedules; provide leadership, direction, and team building; set priorities; and work extended hours including evenings and/or weekends.
The specific responsibilities of the Lower & Middle School Band Teacher include, but are not limited to, the following:
Daily responsibilities: Direct 4th Grade Band, 5th Grade Band, Middle School Concert Band, and assist with Symphonic Band and Wind Symphony. Teach Music related courses when necessary. Assist Director of Bands in all capacities.
Periodic Responsibilities – Assist Director of Bands with planning of trips, fundraisers, and events. Attend parent meetings, Adjudicate All-State/District Auditions for Middle and High School, recommend students for and attend honor band events. Recommend music, instruments, and supplies for the advancement of the program. Rearrange repertoire to accommodate instrumentation.
Perform other duties as assigned by appropriate administrator.
