The President is the Chief Executive Officer and “chief executive in faith” of Marist High School, appointed by the Provincial of the Marist Brothers, Province of the United States. The President owns final responsibility to the Provincial for the religious and educational programs of the school, long-range planning, and all aspects of the school’s general operations, financial management and institutional advancement.
The President is the business leader of Marist Chicago who is responsible for driving long-range strategic plans, and oversees and regularly participates in institutional advancement and fund-raising strategies and initiatives. The President and his or her direct reports are accountable for all financial expenses and commitments of the school, its day-to-day operations and the well-being of our students, faculty and staff.
Oversees the quality and effectiveness of the school’s religious and educational programs in accordance with Marist High School’s mission and the educational mission of the Marist Brothers, with particular concern for developing and maintaining the spiritual life of the school.
Leads and facilitates the work of the School Board, implements School Board decisions and serves as an ex-officio member of the School Board.
Leads and facilitates effective communication between and among Marist High School, the Provincial Council of the Marist Brothers, the School Board, alumni, parents, community groups and the public.
Manages long-range planning for the school including institutional advancement, capital funding and plant, facilities and institutional resources.
With the Chief Financial Officer and the Finance Committee of the School Board, prepares a business plan for review by the Executive Committee of the School Board and presents it to the School Board.
Assumes final responsibility for the hiring of all personnel and signs all contracts.
Appoints the Principal with the recommendation of the School Board and approval of the Provincial.
Hires all senior staff positions and communicates with the Principal and administration in faculty hiring.
Supervises the work of the Principal including the review and approval of the Principal’s appointment of administrators.
Organizes the evaluation of the Principal in coordination with the Office of Marist Education.
Supervises and evaluates the work of the Executive Director of Advancement and serves as the chief fundraiser for Marist High School.
Supervises and evaluates the work of the Chief Financial Officer including the planning and management of the annual school budget and the management and distribution of the school’s various forms of financial assistance.
Supervises and evaluates the work of the Director of Admissions including recruitment, admissions and matriculation of incoming students.
Supervises and evaluates the work of the Director of Building and Grounds including effective maintenance of the plant in concert with the Principal and the Chief Financial Officer.
Supervises and evaluates the President’s Administrative Assistant.
Serves as the primary liaison of Marist High School to the Archdiocese of Chicago.
Assumes any additional duty required by the school that is (i) consistent with the aforementioned duties, (ii) consistent with the best interests of the school and its students, and (iii) neither arbitrary, capricious nor punitive in nature.
