Father Ryan High School is seeking a dynamic, motivated and experienced candidate to implement and direct a new house system. The Director of Houses is responsible for overseeing the formation, implementation and daily management of the Father Ryan house system to be fully launched in the fall of the 2020-2021 academic school year. The ideal candidate will have experience as a Director of Houses or have been in a leadership role in a school with a house system. Alternately, the candidate should have 5+ years of experience in working in student life at the secondary or post-secondary level. All qualified applicants are welcome to apply for this full-time, twelve-month position. There is a flexible start date with a preference for early 2020, and resumes will be accepted until October 31.
Necessary Attributes of the Director of Houses
The Director of Houses will have the ability to foster positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues through an effective and collaborative leadership style. He or she will demonstrate a sincere pastoral concern for students and lived Catholic/Christian values in line with Father Ryan’s mission and vision, as well as a positive overall attitude. The Director of Houses must possess effective written and oral communication skills, as well as demonstrate organization and follow-through. The Director of Houses will always model a spirit of compassion, flexibility, and tolerance and prove both creative and innovative in their work.
Minimum Degree Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree is required, Master’s Degree is preferred

Key Responsibilities of the Director of Houses
Facilitate the implementation of the new house system with the support of the house system implementation team.
Work with each Head of House, the school administration, and student leaders to develop or enhance school-wide programs that encourage the growth of and fulfill the objectives of the House System.
Oversee and guide the selection and retention of house leadership including Heads of House, Mentors and Student Leaders.
Supervise the Heads of House, Mentors and Student Leaders in all aspects of house leadership by providing support, training, resources and direction, including mentor group curriculum and activities.
Administer and oversee all aspects of the house cup competition.
Attend house events and competitions.
Oversee and provide support for all activities that pertain to each house, including events outside of the school-day.
Manage the overall house system budget.
Communicate regularly with the Dean of Campus Ministry and Student Life and other administrators on the state of the house system.
Handle all administrative duties related to the house system including updating public communication via social media or the website, reporting, analyzing data, record keeping.
Oversee communication to parents, students and community.
Meet weekly with the Heads of House and student leaders.
Serve as the primary point of contact for all overall house-related questions. Provide support to Heads of House when issues arise.
Evaluate leadership and programming throughout the year. Intervene with corrective measures when needed.
Other duties as assigned.
