Hanna Boys Center is a private non-profit residential treatment center that serves a diverse population of adolescent males who come to us voluntarily seeking help. Each student has recognized his life needs help and has taken the initiative to change his course. Many are struggling at home, in their community and/or school. Based on the Center’s Core Values of; Faith, Education and Caring we offer a trauma-informed structured, supportive and caring environment for our students, helping them grow into productive members of society.
We are searching for a Campus Minister/Religion Teacher
Principal Duties and Responsibilities, include but are not limited to the following:
Report to and collaborate with the Director of Pastoral Care and serve as a resource in core areas of school and campus life which directly promotes and sustains our core values of faith, education and caring.
Assist in the development and implementation of the faculty and student retreat programs.
In collaboration with others in the ministry department develop and implement prayer services, liturgies and other spiritual practices that sustain the faith community of the Center.
Oversee the planning, development and implementation of community service opportunities during the school year.
Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
Demonstrate preparation and skill in working with students from diverse cultural, economic, and academic backgrounds.
Mentor students in passion projects.
Ability to learn about and become adept in competency-based education principles, trauma informed care, and culturally sustaining pedagogy.
Evaluate student gain, utilizing formal and informal measures.
Keep parents/cottage staff informed and aware of student needs and progress.
Establish and enforce rules and procedures to manage student behavior in the classroom.
Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategies.
BA. or greater in content area. Experience preferred, but not required. State teaching certificate, or ability to be certified by the start of the 2020-21 school year.
Ability to work collaborate with other staff to achieve common goals.
A strong desire toward professional growth and program development.
Maintenance of personal standards of citizenship and professional ethics.
Ability and knowledge to create and teach a sequential reading program.
Must clear background check for a Community Care Licensed facility, including physical, tb and drug test.
Sit, stand and walk for required periods of time.
Reach with hands and arms and use hands and fingers to handle objects and operate tools, computers, and/or controls.
Lift up to 50 pounds and carry up to 20 lbs., occasionally.
