The Assistant Superintendent for School Support Services reports to the Superintendent as the primary liaison to Catholic high schools in the Diocese of Camden. The Assistant Superintendent provides leadership to secondary initiatives and works collaboratively with Office of Catholic Schools staff and high school administration and boards to advance high school Catholic identity, operational vitality, programmatic excellence, and governance and assists with the same for elementary schools. The Assistant Superintendent analyzes and synthesizes multiple sources of data to recommend strategic direction and take action to ensure the excellence of both elementary and secondary schools.
Leadership and Vision
Represent the Office of Catholic Schools on and provide leadership to secondary school boards, including assurance that board training and other protocols are followed.
Analyze and report on a variety of data to recommend and support initiatives in programmatic excellence, operational vitality, enrollment management, marketing, and communications.
Organize professional development and formation opportunities for school leaders, primarily for high schools.
Perform other tasks and assume additional responsibilities as may be delegated by the Superintendent of Schools.
Assure that all diocesan policies regarding lay teaching personnel are followed and investigate and resolve problems regarding implementation of policies, with particular emphasis on secondary schools.
Serve as liaison to the Human Resources Office of the diocese regarding procedures relevant to the employee benefits package and personnel disputes.
Hear and work with local school administrators to resolve concerns, complaints, and conflicts that involve students, parents, teachers, and administrators on matters related to the overall educational operations of schools, with particular emphasis on secondary schools.
Participate in contract negotiations and other procedures regarding labor unions, including investigating grievances.
Serve as liaison to elementary and secondary schools for ensuring that extracurricular programs, including athletics, support the mission of Catholic schools.
Assure that secondary principals adhere to the protocols and expectations for teacher supervision according to their respective union contracts, where applicable.
Collaborate with secondary principals in the development, implementation, and tracking of annual professional development plans for each school.
Provide oversight of academic programs for secondary schools.
Assist with coordination of elementary and secondary standardized tests.
Assist with coordination of professional development for elementary teachers.
Practicing Catholic who possesses the knowledge and skills to share the truths of the Catholic Faith with Catholic school leaders, colleagues, faculty, staff, parents, and students.
Demonstrated commitment to Catholic schools and passion for ensuring and sustaining their excellence in all areas.
Five years of teaching and/or educational administrative and leadership experience, preferably in Catholic Schools, and preferably at the secondary level.
Master’s Degree (preferred)
Working knowledge of Catholic school administration, including human resource and performance management; academic program development, implementation, and evaluation; student discipline; board relationships; and budget management.
