Job Description The school community is defined by its Catholic identity and its mission statement: Challenging the Mind, Nurturing the Heart, Living the Gospel. We are sustained by a firm foundation of study, prayer, and action. Our rigorous academic program prepares students to distinguish themselves as responsible, compassionate leaders in the Church and in the world. The school community primarily serves the families of the parishes of St. John Chrysostom in Wallingford and Nativity BVM in Media and includes students from beyond those parishes’ boundaries. The faculty and staff are deeply committed to the mission of Catholic education.
Mother of Providence Regional Catholic School is accredited by the Middle States Association and is currently applying for certification for The Presidential Blue-Ribbon Award. The projected enrollment of Mother of Providence Regional Catholic School is 245 students from PreK 3 through Grade 8.
The main school building houses Grade 1 through Grade 8, as well as classrooms for Science, Art, Library, Technology, Honors Math, and Physical Education. The Primary Unit houses PreK 3, PreK 4, Kindergarten and Instructional Support. There are 16 classroom teachers (including Aides), a full-time teacher for Honors Math, Instructional Support and Library. There are part-time teachers for Music, Art and Spanish.
The governance model for the school is a Board of Limited Jurisdiction (which includes the Host Pastor, Rev. Edward Hallinan, a Board Chair and 11-15 Board Members from the community) working in collaboration with the Principal, the School Business Manager, the Advancement Director and the Parish Business Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities Candidates will be asked to demonstrate their expertise in curriculum implementation, the use of technology in instruction, team building, faculty development, and effective elementary school management including exemplary communication and relationship-building skills. Candidates will work with a full-time Advancement Director and preferably will have knowledge of contemporary marketing, development, and communication tools and strategies to facilitate initiatives to advance the school for enrollment growth and resource development. Requirements A dynamic, Christ-centered leader is needed to serve as the Principal for Mother of Providence Regional Catholic School. The new Principal must be a faithful practicing Catholic with a strong commitment to Catholic Education and the teachings of the Church. He or she must lead by personal witness to the Catholic faith and exhibit a passion and compassion in articulating the mission of Mother of Providence to students, parents, faculty, and the community. The ideal candidate will:
serve as the primary agent for creating an environment that fosters academic excellence, Catholic faith formation, vitality and viability.
be responsible for creating a climate that encourages the engagement of each student in the learning process while fostering a love for learning.
inspire a committed faculty and an engaged student body to form a highly effective learning community inclusive of all stakeholders in the ministry of Catholic education.
collaborate with the Board of Limited Jurisdiction and other stakeholders.
leverage technology as a communication and educational tool.
work with the Advancement Director to support school events, fundraising initiatives and enrollment campaigns.

A minimum of five years’ experience teaching in a Catholic School and a Master’s Degree in School Administration are requirements. The applicant should hold degrees and certifications required by the Office of Catholic Education. Prior school administrative experience is strongly preferred. Experience with Blue Ribbon application and grant application processes a plus. Salary is negotiable based on experience and qualifications.
