The Church of Saints Peter & Paul in Richmond, Minnesota seeks a visionary principal to build upon the traditions of faith formation and educational excellence in our Catholic school. The principal oversees administration of all aspects of the elementary school ministry in grades pre-school through five, provides faith and educational leadership in the Roman Catholic tradition to the school community, and supervises school staff. A Master’s Degree, or progress towards one, is required. Experience in elementary education is preferred. Candidates need to be practicing Catholics whose lifestyle models Catholic values.

The Catholic school principal serves as the spiritual, educational, and managerial leader of the school. Emphasizing qualities of excellence, commitment, creativity, and innovation in all school endeavors, the principal guides a community committed to the development of the whole child. The principal works collaboratively with the pastor, who is the ex officio chief administrative officer of a parish school. The principal is responsible for establishing, demonstrating and promoting the highest standards and expectations for academic performance, behavior and spiritual growth of all students, as well as directing and nurturing all members of the school faculty and staff, as well as the school parents, who are recognized as the primary educators of their own children.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Faith and Moral Development
Nurtures the faith and moral development of faculty, staff and students through opportunities for spiritual growth.
Ensures quality Catholic religious instruction of students.
Provides opportunities for the school community to celebrate its faith (liturgy, prayer services, reconciliation, etc.)
Supports and fosters consistent practices of Catholic Social Teaching.
Integrates Gospel values and Catholic ethics into the curriculum, policies and life of the school.
Building Catholic Community
Develops and implements a mission and philosophy statement which reflect the unique Catholic character of the school.
Fosters collaboration between the parish and the school.
Recognizes, respects and facilitate the role of parents as primary educators.
