St. Augustine High School, San Diego, a Catholic all- boys school in the Augustinian tradition, is seeking an energetic candidate to become its next Director of Athletics. Brand new, state of the art facilities are an attractive part of this opportunity to lead one of the finest Athletic programs in San Diego.
Plans, organizes and directs an athletic program that develops good sportsmanship in the context of our Catholic and Augustinian charism in consultation with the Asst. Principal for Auxiliary Services.
Schedules and maintains all necessary arrangements for athletic events
Administers all necessary athletic records and monitors students' eligibility in conjunction with the Assistant Principal for Student Services, Assistant Principal for Academics, and Health Services Coordinator according to school and C.I.F. policies.
Oversees Coaches participation in all league and conference athletic meetings.
Oversees Coaches arrangements for transportation to all athletic events/contests
Supervises and evaluates all coaches and athletic department personnel
Hiring of Varsity head coaches with approval of Asst. Principal of Auxiliary Services.
Coordinates the sale of tickets to sporting events.
Coordinates games schedules, officials, timers, judges and staff supervision for interscholastic contests.
Distributes ID Cards, passes and tickets.
Coordinates announcements of game results and upcoming events.
Coordinates athletic banquets, team pictures, and game programs.
Coordinates purchases of trophies, banners, and plaques.
Notifies coaches, referees, and staff of "rainouts" or postponed athletic events.
Supervises budgets for all sports programs
Purchases athletic equipment following consultation with AP Auxiliary Services and in accordance with the budget and requisitions from the Executive Director of Finance and Facilities.
Serves as an ad hoc member of the Administrative Team and assists with the emergency plan for the school.
Serves on the Athletic Committee, Hall of Fame, Academic Council, and Student Services Committee and other tasks as directed by the Principal
Candidates must be committed to Catholic values and Augustinian tradition. The ideal candidate will possess:
A Master’s Degree
Administrative experience at the high school level
5 years of teaching and coaching experience
Strong communication skills & excellent personal rapport
Strong technology skills including social media
Proficiency in facilities management
