St. Gabriel’s Catholic School is currently accepting applicants for our Front Desk Receptionist, the face and voice of our school. As the first point of contact our children and families connect with, this candidate must be warm, friendly, professional, knowledgeable and committed. SGCS is a co-educational independent Catholic school serving students from Pre-K 3-through 8th grade in Austin, Texas. The Lower School is comprised of Pre-Kindergarten – 4th grade and the Middle School houses grades 5-8. SGCS provides a challenging and enriched curriculum that allows graduates to achieve success in the high schools of their choice. Our teachers and staff must possess excellent oral and written skills with both colleagues and the community.
PRIMARY PURPOSE: To respond to incoming calls and receive and greet students, parents, and visitors in a way that optimizes efficiency and minimizes disruption of the educational process and provide clerical assistance for the efficient operation of the campus office.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Receive and direct incoming calls, take reliable messages, and route to appropriate staff.
Greet and direct campus visitors.
Love our children the way we do.
Assist parents in checking students in and out of school.
Receive, sort, and distribute mail, messages, documents, and other deliveries.
Assist with the receipt and distribution of student materials, including homework requests.
Maintain visitor log and issue visitor passes.
Assist with preparation of materials for mailing, including preparing labels, stuffing envelopes, etc.
Maintain computerized files using a personal computer, including attendance, reports, employee roster, substitute teacher sign-in sheets and mailing lists.
Provide clerical assistance as needed.
Demonstrates regular and prompt attendance.
Perform other duties as assigned.
PAY $12-$15/ hour, depending upon experience.
GENERAL QUALIFICATION GUIDELINES
Graduation from an accredited high school or GED.
Experience in clerical work in an office setting.
Skills in organization, communication, and interpersonal relations.
Ability to communicate effectively; manage multiple priorities and projects; use computer and application software.
Ability to understand, remember and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information.
Must be able to remain in standing position for long periods to greet guests.
Use standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals.
Prolonged standing; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting.
Repetitive hand motions including frequent keyboarding and use of a mouse; occasional reaching.
Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds).
Work with frequent interruptions.
Maintain emotional control under stress.
