Austin Preparatory School, located in Reading, Massachusetts about 15 miles north of Boston, is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Director of Communications. Founded in 1961, Austin Prep is an independent co-ed Catholic school in the Augustinian tradition for students in grades 6-12. There are 750 students enrolled in the school. The Director of Communications reports to the Assistant Headmaster of External Affairs and is responsible for the development and implementation of communications initiatives at Austin Prep, specifically internal communications, social media, publications, and media relations. S/he works across various departments, most notably development, admissions, academics, and athletics, and serves in many capacities to advance the mission and initiatives of the school. The position serves the entire AP community and as such, requires an effective collaborator, strategic thinker, proficient writer, and creative storyteller.
Bachelor’s degree; 5+ years of experience in communications and marketing, preferably in independent schools.
Excellent skill in desktop publishing design and management of design production.
Demonstrated experience with photography, videography, website content management and design, and social media marketing.
Exceptional written and oral communication skills
Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
Flexible and willing to work evenings and/or weekends as required.
