Saint Francis Catholic Academy, a small, but growing, Catholic high school in Gainesville, Florida (the Diocese of St. Augustine) seeks a Guidance / School Counselor for the 20117-2018 school year.
The ideal candidate for the position should be an innovative self-starter, committed to the development of the whole child and a believer in the mission of Catholic education. The candidate must have, or be eligible for, Florida state certification in School Counselor.
The guidance / school counselor at Saint Francis Catholic Academy is in active partnership with the school administration, including the Principal (head of school) and Director of Academics. He/she will be primarily responsible for:
overseeing and maintaining student academic records (including transcripts)
monitoring student academic and social development (and communicating with all stakeholders when interventions are needed)
guiding students in the college placement process to both secure scholarships and admission; and building relationships with universities and colleges to facilitate that process
and lastly, per our strategic plan, 2020 Vision, creating a comprehensive guidance program and curriculum that leads students from freshman year to senior year on an intensive exploration of college and career
