Justin-Siena is seeking a full-time upper school English teacher for the 2017-2018 school year.
The essential responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Teaching five sections of English;
- Collaborating within the English Department to investigate, develop and deliver our curriculum;
- Serving on teams to develop whole-school initiatives;
- Advising a small group of students;
- Engaging meaningfully in student life or athletic programming;
- Performing weekend, evening, or overnight duties as assigned.
Above all, we seek candidates who are aligned to the school’s ideals of inclusivity, social justice, intellectual pursuit, and loving community and are committed to maximizing the holistic growth of all students.
Candidates must possess demonstrated competence in the content area as well as research-based best pedagogical practices. An advanced degree is preferred. Preference will be given to those with upper division experience in independent schools, particularly those in the Catholic tradition. We seek an active interest in developing courses with substantive interdisciplinary, experiential, and service components.
We seek candidates with track records of positive, professional collaboration in team settings. An understanding of the developmental needs of adolescents is necessary; therefore we seek a healthy combination of positivity, flexibility, energy, creativity, and sense of humor. We seek demonstrated experience working in a diverse, inclusive community and strong cross-cultural competency skills.
Justin-Siena is an independent Catholic day and boarding high school sponsored by the De La Salle Christian Brothers. We currently serve 640 students from the Napa Valley and neighboring Northern California communities as well as a growing group of international students. Our mission emphasizes a holistic college preparatory experience in the context of a loving community.
