The Director of Educational Technology & Innovation will report to the Superintendent of Schools, he/she will be responsible for collaboratively designing and implementing innovative instructional programs; planning and arranging professional development; overseeing the student information system (report cards, web gradebook, parent portal); managing Office of the Superintendent web site,; supporting schools, administrators, and teachers with the effective integration of technology,; and working with Diocesan Senior Director of Technology Services to develop a diocesan wide technology plan for technology equipment and software. The Director of Educational Technology and Innovation will stay up-to-date with best practices and will share resources with schools.
Must hold a Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Education, Computer Science, Technology, or a related technology/computer field from an accredited college or university
Connecticut State Teaching Certification
Have at least three (3) years' experience in working with students and educational staff in the field of educational technology
Knowledge of existing and emerging educational applications, systems and techniques
Ability to articulate and communicate complex technology concepts effectively in non-technical terms
Demonstrate the ability to use electronic equipment for word processing, data management, information retrieval, visual and audio presentations, and telecommunications.
Have the ability to assist teachers and administrators to integrate educational technology into the curriculum and the instructional programs in support of student achievement
Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of instructional programs & strategies, curriculum development and program evaluation
Demonstrate the ability to extract and download information from web based or online systems such as Rediker or Applitrack to create Excel reports and graphs
Must be proficient in Excel and PowerPoint to display information in meaningful and understandable way
Must be able to manage websites and be familiar with Search Engine Optimization (SEO) theory and techniques as well as Hyperlink Text Markup Language
Exhibit a personality that demonstrates enthusiasm and interpersonal skills to relate well with students, staff, administration, parents, and the community.
