Mission College Preparatory Catholic High School is a diocesan secondary school serving 350 students and is located in San Luis Obispo, CA. MCP seeks an experienced classroom teacher who has a background in curricular and pedagogical innovation and the ability to use a variety of techniques in the classroom. Philosophical alignment with and a track record of laboratory-based, student-centered instruction is essential. Responsibilities for this position also include full participation in a science department to ensure excellent scope and sequence, as well as participation in a professional, Catholic school-wide learning community.
The ideal candidate has a degree or advanced degree in science, has AP physics teaching experience, and holds a teaching credential in science. S/he would have experience teaching a variety of Physics classes at the high school level, including but not limited to AP, honors, and college preparatory Physics. The ideal candidate will also have experience using technology in the classroom and be interested in incorporating new technologies into their classes.
Competitive candidates will be committed to differentiated instruction and collaborative learning. Experience facilitating data collection and analysis by students using Vernier equipment is desirable.
