Sacred Heart Cathedral School, a diocesan Catholic school in Knoxville, TN, is seeking an assistant principal to start June 26, 2017. Founded in 1956, Sacred Heart Cathedral School has 515 students in grades K-8 and an additional 120 students in our nursery and preschool. Sacred Heart is the largest elementary school in the Diocese of Knoxville.
The assistant principal will report to the principal and will play a key role in the success of the school. The assistant principal will join an outstanding faculty that includes a number of SHCS alumni and will work daily with the school counselor, school psychologist, school chaplain, director of athletics, directors of communications, director of admissions and development, director of parish operations and, of course, the principal and Cathedral pastor. The assistant principal will be very involved in the day-to-day life of the school, including work with faculty, classroom observations and feedback, student life (including discipline), communication with parents, and overall administration of the school in conjunction with the principal. The ultimate determination of duties will depend on the assistant principal’s experience and skills.
Ideal candidates will be practicing Catholics with a master’s degree, eligibility for an administrator’s license in Tennessee, and some administrative experience.
This is a uniquely outstanding opportunity for the right candidate. SHCS is eagerly awaiting the completion of a new cathedral that will open in March 2017 and the school recently went through a significant renovation. With gratitude to God, the school launched this year a 1:1 laptop program, robotics, new extra curricular activities, and new offerings in arts and athletics. The school is strengthening relationships with families, offering more opportunities for students and families to grow in faith, and investing in its pedagogy and results.
