SAINT FRANCIS DE SALES SCHOOL, located in Salisbury, Maryland, seeks qualified applicants for the position of PRINCIPAL beginning July 1, 2017. The parish school, which was founded in 1949, provides a faith-filled, student-centered, service-oriented environment and is known for academic excellence and very solid standardized test scores. Saint Francis de Sales School, accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, currently has an enrollment of 175 students in Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 8, 25 faculty and staff to minister to the students, and an active Home and School Association and School Advisory Board. The school is moving toward becoming a STREAM school; faculty are currently receiving education and training toward this goal.
Principal candidates must possess excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate well with various constituencies. Understanding and supporting the STREAM concept and valuing the significance of presence at school, parish, and community events are also essential for the school’s next leader.
The successful candidate must meet the following criteria:
- live as a practicing Catholic
- have a minimum of five years teaching experience at the elementary level, with at least three years in Catholic school (administrative experience preferred) and demonstrate a commitment to continued growth of Catholic education
- hold an advanced degree (M.A., M.S., M.Ed., Ed.D., Ph.D.) from an accredited institution
- be eligible for Delaware or Maryland certification
