The Diocese of Toledo is searching for a Senior Director of the Department of Catholic Education that will provide leadership, direct supervision and manages the Catholic Education Department team. This faith-inspired, big picture, strategic, innovative leader will promote and advance the Catholic identity, academic excellence, and ensure the vitality and viability of our Catholic schools. She/he will assist the Bishop of Toledo in his teaching mission by encouraging and supporting leaders of catechetical formation in the parishes and schools of the Diocese. The ideal candidate for this position will be an inspirational, passionate advocate for Catholic education, and will demonstrate a complex understanding of the issues, challenges and opportunities present in Catholic schools today. In addition, the Senior Director will oversee the catechetical formation throughout the Catholic schools and parishes, from youth to adult formation, as well as care for home school families and the formation of lay ecclesial ministry.
The Senior Director of the Department of Catholic Education will develop a vision in coordination with the Bishop of Toledo while serving on the bishop’s senior staff and reporting to the Vicar General/Moderator of the Curia. Together she/he will lead and implement a strategic plan to ensure the long-term health of an excellent, nationally recognized system of Catholic schools in the Diocese of Toledo. Critical to the success of this mission is the ability to inspire collaborative participation among the leaders in parishes and school communities.
The candidate must be a practicing Roman Catholic in good standing with the Church who has the ability to respect, promote, accommodate, and not be in conflict with the mission, moral and social teachings, doctrines, and laws of the Roman Catholic faith.
The successful candidate will have at least ten years’ experience in Catholic educational ministry, preferably as a Catholic school principal, superintendent, school administrator and/or Diocesan Catholic education official; a Master’s Degree in Education and/or Administration is preferred; and have obtained the necessary certification in compliance with standards set forth by the State of Ohio, Department of Education. Must have strong supervisory, management, and leadership experience.
