At Mercy High School, with our growing diversity especially in the Latina community, an ESL specialist becomes imperative in supporting the needs of those students and families we naturally attract. The following bullets outline just a few of the job description
Provides counseling and educational advisement for bilingual students, limited-English speaking parents, and other potential students entering Mercy High School.
Promotes and enhances parent involvement in the schools by assisting limited-English-speaking parents in accessing the English language skills and support services needed to become full partners in their daughter’s education.
Consults with teacher/s, counselor and/or administrator as may be required (e.g. selecting materials to be used, implementing lesson plans, any concerns related to student, special information, special learning needs, cultural appreciation, etc.) for the purpose of receiving and/or conveying information regarding students’ activities and progress.
Implements instructional programs and lesson plans for assisting the classroom teacher in improving students' academic success through a defined course of study.
