St. John Paul Catholic High School and the Diocese of Birmingham seek a President effective July 1, 2018. St. John Paul Catholic High School, a college preparatory high school located in Huntsville, AL, serves a student body of approximately 365 students in grades 9-12 with a professional staff of 98 teachers and support staff members.
The newly created position of President comes at an important juncture in the school’s history as we seek a dynamic and spiritual leader with exceptional institution-building skills. The President will serve as the Chief Executive Officer of the School and will provide overall leadership and vision to achieve the school’s unique Catholic mission. The President will be appointed by the Bishop of Birmingham. As the overall leader of the school, the President will serve as a role model for staff and students and bear ultimate responsibility for the integration of faith and learning within the school. The President will oversee faith community affairs, academic affairs and student affairs through the Headmaster. The President will be responsible for ensuring sufficient resources and enrollment for the school through direct oversight of the external affairs of the school and business affairs and institutional advancement including fundraising, communication, community relations and enrollment management activities. The President will act as the primary liaison between the school, the Board of Trustees, the Diocese of Birmingham, feeder parishes and schools, and the broader North Alabama community. The President will ultimately be responsible for the successful overall operation of the school through effective marketing, enrollment and resources, effective planning and delegation of responsibilities to the administration, faculty and staff.
The successful candidate will be a practicing Catholic in good standing with the Catholic Church. Additional requirements include: a minimum of a master’s Degree; superior communication skills; a collaborative leadership style; the ability to continue the welcoming, community spirit that is a hallmark of the school; experience in fund-raising, strategic planning; and, motivational skills to work with teams of exceptional and dedicated constituents who support and embrace the mission of Catholic education in the Diocese of Birmingham.
