St. John Paul II Catholic School (JPII) in the Diocese of St. Petersburg, Florida is seeking a school principal for the 2018-19 school year, with a start date of July 1, 2018. JPII provides an education in the faith to form future leaders and prepare children for a life that makes God known, loved, and served.
JP II currently enrolls 200 students in grades PK-3 through eighth grade. A diocesan school located in Lecanto, FL, JPII serves a diverse population and has had a history of excellence since its establishment.
The successful candidate will demonstrate an unwavering commitment to providing a Catholic education of the highest quality to as many children as possible, ensuring that St. John Paul II Catholic School students are on the path to college, career readiness and a faith-filled life. As a school of excellence, and a new International Baccalaureate program just beginning, the new principal at JP II will focus on achieving comprehensive distinction in the following key areas of schooling: Mission & Catholic Identity, Academic Excellence, Governance & Leadership, and Operational Vitality.
The successful candidate must have a clear vision of and dedication to the values and philosophy of Catholic education. Candidates must understand the stewardship challenges facing Catholic schools and possess strong business/financial management skills, curricular insights, maintain a working relationship with the Office of Catholic Schools and Centers, and communication skills to ensure the long-term sustainability of the school.
The candidate must also be willing and able to make instructional leadership a top priority, with an emphasis on mission-driven, data-informed decision-making, and teacher supervision.
Be a practicing Catholic;
Possess (or be eligible to receive) a State of Florida principal certificate, including required graduate coursework in educational leadership;
Have a minimum of seven years’ experience teaching or five years’ experience leading in a school setting;
Be able to meet the Diocese of St. Petersburg, Florida Department of Education, Florida Catholic Conference requirements for principals;
Candidates with a Master’s degree in Educational Administration are preferred.
Must pass Level II Fingerprinting and complete Safe Environment training
