The President provides leadership for the school’s educational mission and values consistent with the teachings of the Catholic Church. The President maintains the religious vision of the school and interprets and implements its spiritual mission in a manner consistent with a Roman Catholic education.
The President oversees strategic planning, extensive capital and building projects, finance and business affairs, human resources, and advancement, including major fund development, marketing and communications, enrollment management, and community relations. With the Principal, the President ensures continued growth of the innovative academic and co-curricular program. With the Advancement Office, the President leads strategies to ensure financial stability and growth by identifying, cultivating, and developing partnerships and broadening community support.
Requirements and Qualifications:
O’Dowd seeks a President with exceptional leadership skills and commitment to Catholic education and academic excellence who will thrive in a cultural, ethnic, and socioeconomically diverse school community. The President should be a passionate and transformational leader who can articulate a compelling vision for an educational organization, lead the development of a strategic plan, and oversee the design and implementation of a master plan for facilities that will transform the campus.
Candidates should possess significant senior management experience, financial acumen, expertise in business management, and a proven track record of acquiring major gifts from individuals, foundations, and corporations. The school seeks candidates with exceptional relationship-building, communication, and collaboration skills who understand the President/Principal model of administration and are comfortable working with a committed Board of Regents.
The President is hired by, and responsible to, the Bishop of Oakland; reports to the Superintendent of Catholic Schools; and works in partnership with the Board. Applicants must be dedicated, practicing Catholics and hold a master’s degree.
