The Catholic Schools Office of the Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston is currently accepting applications for the position of Director of Curriculum and Instruction, who will assist the Superintendent of Schools in all activities which monitor, support and evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of Diocesan schools. This position is based at Diocesan offices in Wheeling, West Virginia.
This position oversees curriculum and instruction issues in all Catholic schools, PK-12; manages the certification process for personnel; implements the standardized testing program for Catholic schools’ students; collects and analyzes testing data; researches and studies education trends in curriculum development; and assists principals with local curriculum development. The successful candidate will also plan and execute the biennial teachers’ conference and manage both the teacher evaluation and teacher mentoring processes. This position requires moderate travel as well as some work on evenings and weekends.
Qualifications include a Master’s degree (MA) in education or a related field, five years of experience as a teacher and/or principal, a strong leadership, organizational and interpersonal communication skills; and the ability to organize, plan, think creatively, make decisions and administer programs. This employee must adhere to the teachings of the Catholic Church and be able to work collaboratively in a team environment.
